The Kingsburg Times
by Allyn Troisi
28 years ago several local classic car enthusiasts floated the idea of the small town of Kingsburg hosting a car show on Draper Street. In 1995 the success of the 1st Annual Kingsburg Car Show solidified the 3rd Saturday in April as one of the biggest events for the Swedish Village. The Kingsburg show is known as one of the premier car shows held in the valley today. People have travelled from all over the West Coast to participate. The car show has also been a great source of revenue for the entire community, and has brought so many visitors for a weekend of fun. They come for the friendly laid back family atmosphere that Kingsburg provides along with great parking, shade trees lining the streets, music and entertainment, food, awards, and much more.
It takes lots of people to make the show a success year after year. The Car Show Committee meets with the Kingsburg Chamber of Commerce in October to start planning for the show. The committee relies on the help and support from The Kingsburg Chamber of Commerce, City of Kingsburg, Kingsburg Police and Fire Department and their Explorers, Kingsburg Boy Scout Troop, and many other volunteers. We are fortunate enough to partner with many great sponsors which include our local businesses all the way up to our main title sponsors. In the 26 years of the car show the title sponsors have included Swanson-Fahrney Ford and The Selma Auto Mall. Without all our sponsors the car show would not be what it is today.
In January the executive director of the Kingsburg Chamber of Commerce asked if the Car Show Committee was ready to start moving forward with the show for 2021. There was talk about the uncertainty of the future at that time, but it was agreed that the car show would bring positive energy back to the City of Kingsburg. The car show committee and chamber started preparing and planning together and found along the way many others who shared their excitement and enthusiasm for making the show happen.
Kingsburg was the first major car show to be held in the valley for 2021, and people were truly excited and commended the organizers for their actions in moving forward with the event. The outpouring of positive comments and genuine happiness from so many including the car show participants, the vendors, and the spectators that attended the car show weekend was overwhelming. The repeated messages received were, “We are so happy to be here”, “Thanks for putting this car show on”, and “Kingsburg is such a great place for this show”.
The 26th Annual Kingsburg Car Show and Friday Night Cruise event was a huge success with 336 beautiful classic cars and trucks in attendance on Saturday! Car show participants and spectators alike enjoyed the show along with great spring weather, local food and shopping, and out of town vendors that made the trip. It will be remembered as one of, if not the best, Kingsburg Car Shows that has ever been held.
